Why We Banned Legos
Why We Banned Legos - Volume 21 No. 2 - Winter 2006 - Rethinking Schools Online - [Stumbles via StumbleUpon]
This is a very interesting article about why a sort of day care center decided to ban Legos as a child's toy. It makes me wonder if the kind of problems that these kids encountered are built into us or if it is something we learn.

His parasite theory stirs a revolution
His parasite theory stirs a revolution - The Boston Globe - [Stumbles via StumbleUpon]
This is something that I have been preaching for years. These days we are way overprotective of our children.
Childhood is a time for learning. As children we have to learn that touching things that are hot is a bad idea. We have to learn skills such as balance. But, we our bodies also have to learn. Childhood is the time in which our bodies build up our immune system that will help us later in life.

We Over-protect Our Children
Warning: Fun ahead / Safety first, yes, but todays overprotected kids need to live a little - [Stumbles via StumbleUpon]
I couldn't agree more. I fall more in line with the theory that if a kid does something, and it hurts, he/she is less likely to do it again in the future.
