Haplology - [Stumbles via StumbleUpon]

I love the Merriam-Webster word of the day. Today's word is a phenomenon that I have always been familiar with but didn't know there was a single word to describe it. This word is "haplology". Haplology by definition is the contraction of a word by omission of one or more similar sounds or syllables. Let's take the word "probably" as an example of how haplology works. Where I am from in the middle of Indiana, probably is usually pronounced "probly" and sometimes even "pry".
