I'm going to go with the war in Iraq. Let's take care of the immediate problems first then focus on the long term problems.
The money spent in Iraq is
The money spent in Iraq is money burned. There is no value in a war, there is no return.
End the war, that money should be transferred to higher value return items (ie, health, infrastructure, social).
Keep your head down, and powder dry.

I think that technology, medical, and space are all related. They all really promote each other.
I don't think there is
I don't think there is anything that is more important than space exploration right now. We can't live on Earth forever, eventually we are going to have to leave eventually.
@learninglinux - If people are living longer, overcrowding is going to become a serious problem.
